Mets streak to 4-1

A pitching duel between Tom Glavine and Dontrelle Willis turned into the David Wright show on Sunday, as the steady 3B drove in all three runs in the Mets' come-from-behind 3-2 victory. Wright had a 2-run triple against Willis in the 7th and knocked in the winning run with a sac fly in the 9th. He now has 9 RBI in the first 5 games. Billy Wagner notched the victory, his first as a Met.

At 4-1, the Mets lead the Eastern division by 2 games over the 3-4 Braves.

Next game: Tuesday, April 11 @ RFK Stadium, 1:05 pm start on SNY & WFAN, Brian Bannister (0-0) vs. Ramon Ortiz (0-1)

AROUND THE HORN
* The Yankees ended their 4-game losing streak with a 10-1 romp over the Angels. Jorge Posada clouted 2 HRs and Mike Messina got the win. The 2-4 Yanks are tied for last place, 3 games behind the Eastern division-leading Red Sox (5-1). The Yanks play their home opener vs. the Royals on Tuesday.
* Yankee legend and Ball Four author Jim Bouton is opposed to the plan to build a new Yankees Stadium. He told Michael O'Keeffe in the New York Daily News, "I think former Yankees should not allow [George] Steinbrenner to trash history. They should lie down in front of the bulldozers. I'd join them myself, except I'm not sure the bulldozers would stop in my case." Long persona non grata at Yankee Stadium due to his tell-all expose (published in 1970), Bouton says Steinbrenner's deal with the city stinks. "How can any businessman ask for a dime in a city where kids are taking classes in stairwells? How can you ask for money from a city that is closing firehouses?"
