Happy Jay Day

What once was the traditional marijuana march and rally in New York on the first Saturday in May has branched out to become an international event, thanks to the efforts of the NY-based Cures Not Wars. From Amsterdam to Sao Paolo, pot activists will take to the streets today protesting prohibition. In New York, the march begins at 1 pm at Houston St. and Broadway. It'll proceed south on Broadway and end at Battery Park, where a rally has already started. From 2-6 pm, speakers and music will engage the crowd. In the past, NYPD arrested many revelers, but in the last two years, due to declining attendance, few arrests have occurred. The main rule at the New York rally is to NOT smoke openly. Be discreet!
